Were you not able to get a ticket for Taylor Swift’s impressive Speak Now Tour? No problem — Taylor’s got your back. In her just released video for “Sparks Fly,” the singer is giving fans a front-row seat to her show.
Word about all of those exciting elements must have spread, since Swift has managed to bump Paul McCartney from the top spot of July’s TicketsNow Entertainment Index, according to EW.com. Her tour accounted for more than 6 percent of concert tickets sold via TicketsNow in July, meaning it beat out McCartney’s On the Run Tour, which completed its run last week.
With Swift and McCartney sitting at the #1 and #2 spots respectively, the top five included Katy Perry’s California Dreams Tour at #3, Lil Wayne’s I Am Still Music Tour at #4 and U2′s just-wrapped two-year run of their 360 Tour at #5. Swift will be on the road through November, playing dates all across North America before ending up in New York for two sold-out dates, closing out the arena tour.
Much like the video is a thank-you letter to her fans, the tour also served as a way for Swift to show some love to her loyal followers. “We get to have such groovy, cool stuff happening,” she said about the over-the-top elements of the show. “I’ve never had pyro before. I’ve never had aerialists before. It’s got this grand staircase. The stage in itself looks like an old-world theater. I can’t believe we get to play stadiums. I’m so excited about this tour. I want to live on that stage. I hope people leave the concert feeling like they know you better.”

Generous country darlin’ Taylor Swift knows how to give back to all those people who make her tour possible. “We usually take everyone on a vacation, like everybody, every single person on the tour, band, dancers, crew,” Taylor told ‘The Kyle & Jackie O Show‘ on 2Day FM yesterday.
“We usually pick somewhere beautiful and tropical. We haven’t started planning it yet, because the tour is only halfway done,” she continued. “It’s really wonderful to take everyone on a trip.”
The young singer puts on a spectacular show with acrobats, ballet dancers, ukelele numbers and rainstorms of confetti — so, naturally, she needs some spectacular help. As immortalized in her brand new video ‘Sparks Fly,’ her sold-out world tour Speak Now has the star switching costumes nine times a night.
“I have three people that help me change clothes. I have to change clothes in under 30 seconds every single time,” she explains. “It’s crazy, because I’m usually going from a little dress to two dresses stacked on top of each other with a ball gown on top, different shoes changes, so there’s somebody taking off my shoes the same time somebody is putting a dress over my head, the same time somebody is changing my hair.”
Now that the golden-locked four-time Grammy winner has extended her tour into 2012 to hit up Australia and New Zealand, her hard-working crew will have something to keep ‘em going. Wouldn’t you love to join Taylor’s concert troops?
In a surprise twist organizers didn’t even know about, Taylormania hit a new high Saturday when eight Taylor Swift fans got the chance of a lifetime.
After a rigorous round of Swift trivia and skills bouts, the Edmonton Sun’s “Taylor Swift Superfan” contest saw finalists battle it out through a Survivor-style competition at Londonderry Mall.
As all eight finalists — six female, two males — opened their envelopes, each one discovered they won a pair of luxury suite tickets to the Aug. 19 Taylor Swift concert.
“This is the first time that the Edmonton Sun has ever ‘tricked’ everyone,” said Edmonton Sun marketing and promotions manager Erin Hazen.
“This is something we’ve wanted to do for an extremely long time.”
One of the contestants was Yasmeen Najmeddine.
The 12-year-old was the youngest performer in the Top 10 round of the Edmonton Undiscovered talent contest.
In an impromptu concert at the end of the contest, Najmeddine showcased her skills, playing Swift’s “Back to December” in the key of D.
“Taylor Swift started all this — Yasmeen started learning her music, figuring out the chords on guitar and stuff like that,” said the young performer’s mother, Rama.
Other fans were stocked to win the tickets.
“I’m like, her biggest fan ever,” said Larissa Palmer, 17, of Stony Plain.
She sported a T-shirt she painted, including the names of Swift’s songs, a portrait of the young singer-songwriter and a quote from the liner notes on her album, “Fearless.”
“She’s real and she sings about things she knows. She seems like someone you could hang out with — not a celebrity,” Palmer said.
“I make all my friends listen to her.”
Big Machine Records released the 2011 “For Your CMA Consideration” poster & A Montage displaying Taylor’s biggest achievements in the past few years and the reasons why she should get nominated in various award categories for this year’s CMA Awards. In just a few short years, Taylor Swift has become one of the biggest stars in country music, with songwriting chops and a command of the stage that belie her tender years.
Her albums quickly go platinum, and her tours, promoted by Louis Messina, sell out in minutes. The rocket career trajectory is showing no signs of slowing down. Swift moved up to the stadium level in 2011, selling out Ford Field in Detroit to the tune of $3.4 million gross and 48,000 attendance (according to Billboard Boxscore), Heinz Field in Pittsburgh ($4 million, 52,000 attendance) and two shows at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. (which pulled in $8 million and sold more than 110,000 tickets).
Taylor Swift on working with a guy who “just knew” she would headline stadiums someday, as told to Ray Waddell:
The first time I met Louie, I was 17 and the opening act on George Strait’s tour. I was beyond excited to be out there, and would spend my time wandering the halls of the arena, trying to meet everyone involved with the tour.
One night, I met this jovial, friendly guy named Louie Messina, who I knew was the tour promoter.
What struck me as so strange and wonderful about him was that Louie seemed to have not a care in the world. He didn’t come off like he had anything to stress about or anywhere to be, talking at his own relaxed pace and only speaking of his optimistic high hopes and genuine love for live shows.
Afterward, someone told me, “You know, that’s the guy who took Kenny Chesney from opening act to a stadium headliner.”
The way he carried himself in his conversation with me backstage at that show, he seemed just so happy and grateful to be there.
That’s why everyone loves having Louie around. He’s your friend who is always a blast to hang out with and talk about music. The fact that he’s one of the top promoters in the world never seems to come up.
Back when I was still opening up shows on tours like [Strait's], Kenny’s and [Brad Paisley's], Louie somehow “just knew” that I was going to headline my own tour someday.
Louie would so confidently say, “In a few years, you’re going to be selling out stadiums too.”
When he took me on as a client, I was so happy to be with someone who honestly believed these crazy dreams that I hadn’t even dared to dream yet.
He never gave me any advice or pointers, just these crazy optimistic premonitions of where he “knew” I would be someday. It’s still hard to believe he’s been right about all of them.
The confidence I have in Louie and his team is priceless to me. There’s really nothing like trusting the people you work with. We get on long conference calls before tours start, meticulously going over every single market and analyzing why we would play it at that exact time.
As a friend, Louie has become one of my favorite people to play new music for. He’s such a music guy, such a fan of lyrics and melody. His responses are always the ones I love the most, so there have been many tour-bus listening sessions with just the closest members of my team and Louie.
